THE TRAVELING NAIL GUN

Hey there Campers;

Well it is time for us to head it up and move it out. Barbie and I drove to Rex's office to get our nail gun from Rex who got it from Mike (Nicky's father-in-law)  who got it from Nick. Are you confused yet??  As you know the Tompkins, Shepherds & Brandy's always got together for "family projects." So when Nicky  & Sarah bought their home they wanted hardwood floors. So Lo sent him our nail gun. Yep all the way from Cally. Our motto is if the family has it don't buy it just use theirs.

Of course we could not leave without saying goodbye to Mr. John &  Mrs. Arlene. They are Barbie's and Rex's neighbors. Mrs. Arlene gave me $.75 to give to Lo. She said that was for the entertainment Lo & Rex gave her on Friday when they were on top of the Hilton fixing the A/C. They are the nicest neighbors to have. We are so happy that they treat Barbie & Rex like family. When we come they always invite us into their home like we are family also. If you need anything Mr. John probably has it and is right there to help. Lo left $.25 for Rex to have.

We bide our family the Shepherds goodbye and head for Tulsa. We will see them again when Barbie's work sends her to Cally.

This is something we do not see in Cally. A oil well being drilled in your back yard.

Do you know what Schwan's is? Well it is a delivery service for food. Our daughter Sharelle uses them and so does Barbie. We have tried, but it is easier to go to the store. If you don't have time to go to the store it is a great service.

Rolling hills and dales as we travel Hwy 51.

We traveled through Stillwater, OK. It is a beautiful college town (OK State Univ.). When exiting the town you still know it is a agricultural area with the big silos on either side of the road.

This is beautiful green country. We cross the Arkansas River and the Keystone Dam just before coming into Tulsa.

We landed at the Hard Rock Casino & Resort. This will be our base for the next few days. We had lunch at the buffet. Can you believe they actually have food that doesn't have meat in it. I know you are thinking what is the big deal. Well if you are a vegetarian and you love Chinese food it is a big deal. They closed the lunch buffet line down at 2:45 PM. We got there at 2:25 PM. The staff was very nice. The waitress came to remind us the line was going to close. Then one of the chefs came to ask us how the meal was and asked if he could get us anything before the line closed. Wow! Where do you get service like that?? We even get valet service to take us to the hotel from the RV parking lot. We have stopped by here before and was treated wonderfully.  That is why we came back. Listen up RVers. Put this on your travel list of great places to stay. And it is free!

  2. Hi there!

    According to Wikipedia:

    What was to ultimately become Tulsa was part of Indian Territory, which was created as part of the relocation of the Five Civilized Tribes—the Choctaw, Cherokee, Muscogee(Creek), Chickasaw, and Seminole peoples. These Native American tribes moved into the region after the passage of the Indian Removal Act of 1830, when they were forced to surrender their lands east of the Mississippi River to the federal government in exchange for land in Indian Territory. Each of the larger tribes was given extensive land holdings, individual governments were formed, and tribal members began new lives as farmers, trappers, and ranchers. The majority of the American Indians (including the numerous Creek and Cherokee settlers) came from the Southern states. During the Civil War, they largely favored the Confederacy, in part because the institution of slavery being common within the Five Civilized Tribes. Most of modern Tulsa is located in the Creek Nation, with parts located in the Cherokee Nation and Osage Nation.

  3. Veggie Chinese food sounds amazing - and I frankly think Serena's right; it would be worth you doing even a monthly podcast with some cute music, if writing a book sounds boring. You could call it "Free Wheeling." Get it????

    I would have guessed Cherokee, too, from OK - but because the state is so central, they have a lot of tribes who moved through.
